Take a free, quick, and anonymous survey to determine if you, or someone you care about, should connect with a mental health professional. Screenings are available for wide range, depression, anxiety, bipolar, traumatic stress, drug use, alcohol use, eating disorders, and gambling.

Therapy Assistance Online (TAO) is an interactive, web-based program that provides well-researched and highly effective strategies to manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. It is a free resource for BYU–Hawaii students and employees.

WHAT IS TAO?

TAO includes over 150 brief, effective, educational sessions covering over 50 common topics and skills related to mental health, wellness, and substance use issues. TAO Includes interactive sessions, mindfulness exercises, and practice tools all aimed at helping you achieve your goals.

BENEFITS OF TAO

Think of TAO as an online library of engaging, interactive programs to learn life skills and bounce back from life’s disappointments or stumbling blocks. As you watch the videos and engage with interactive modules, you'll gain the knowledge, self-awareness, and skills you need to achieve your goals.

HOW TO CONNECT?

TAO modules and tools are available as self-help tools or may be assigned by counselors from the BYU–Hawaii Counseling & Disability Service as a therapy tool in conjunction with regular sessions.

How to register for TAO?

1. In your browser window, navigate to the TAO registration page.
2. Enter first name, last name, and your school email address.
3. Leave the 'Enrollment Key' field blank.
4. Click 'Sign Me Up'.
5. Check your email. You will be sent a "Welcome to TAO" email with a confirmation link which you must click on to sign in.

Counseling Services provides crisis response to students and their dependents who are experiencing mental health emergencies. If you, or someone you know, is experiencing a crisis or is believed to be a danger to self and/or others, please call BYUH Campus Safety & Security at (808) 675-3911.

For emergencies, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

During Business Hours

If you, or someone you know, would like to consult with a counselor please call Counseling Services at (808) 675-3518. If you would prefer to talk to a counselor in person, you are welcome to walk in for urgent assistance. Counseling Services is regularly open Monday through Friday from 8 am-5 pm. Office may be closed for lunch, devotional, holidays, etc. If office is closed, please call (808) 675-3911.

After Hours (On-Campus)

If you are on-campus and need to reach a crisis counselor after 5 pm, call BYUH Campus Safety & Security at (808) 675-3911. The on-call crisis counselor will respond to after hour calls.

After Hours (Off-Campus)

Counseling Services does not provide after-hours crisis response for individuals off-campus. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis and need to talk to someone, please call the Hawaii CARES line at (808) 832-3100. For emergencies, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Report a Concern

For concerns regarding harm to self or others, you may submit a report to the BYUH Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT). This reporting system is NOT a 911 or emergency service. Do not use this site to report events presenting an immediate threat to life or property. For emergencies, call 911.
