Crisis and Emergency

Counseling Services provides crisis response to those who are experiencing mental health emergencies. If you, or someone you know, is experiencing a crisis or is believed to be a danger to self and/or others, please call BYUH Campus Safety & Security at (808) 675-3911. For emergencies, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

During Business Hours

If you, or someone you know, would like to consult with a counselor please call Counseling Services at (808) 675-3518. If you would prefer to talk to a counselor in person, you are welcome to walk in for urgent assistance. Counseling Services is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am-5:00 pm. The office may be closed for lunch, devotional, holidays, etc. If the office is closed, please call (808) 675-3911.

After Hours (On-Campus)

If you are on-campus and need to reach a crisis counselor after 5:00 pm or on weekends, call BYUH Campus Safety & Security (808) 675-3911. The on-call crisis counselor will respond to after-hour calls.

After Hours (Off-Campus)

Counseling Services does not provide crisis response for individuals off-campus. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis and need to talk to someone, please call the Hawaii CARES line at (808) 832-3100 or dial 988. For emergencies, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Report a Concern

For concerns regarding harm to self or others, please submit a report to the BYUH Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT). This reporting system is NOT a 911 or Emergency Service! Do not use this site to report events presenting an immediate threat to life or property. For emergencies, call 911.

Emergency Room

If you would prefer not to talk to a clinical counselor, or if you feel you are in imminent danger, please check into the nearest emergency room. The closest emergency room to BYU–Hawaii is located at Kahuku Medical Center (56-117 Pualalea St, Kahuku, HI 96731).
